Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 8, 2026

Welcome to Fare. Fare is a privacy-first subscription manager designed to help people manually track subscriptions, renewals, trial dates, payment notes, and recurring costs without connecting bank accounts, scanning email, reading transactions, or requiring access to sensitive financial accounts.

This Privacy Policy explains how Fare collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use our website, mobile application, and related services, collectively referred to as the Service.

By using Fare, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who We Are

Fare is a subscription management app built to give users clarity and control over recurring services they choose to track manually.

Fare is not a bank, financial institution, credit monitoring service, bill negotiation service, or automated financial data aggregator. Fare does not connect to your bank account, credit card account, email inbox, payment processor account, or financial institution.

For privacy questions, you can contact us at support@usefare.app.

2. Our Privacy Philosophy

Fare is built around a simple principle: you should be able to understand and manage your subscriptions without giving an app access to your private financial life.

Fare is intentionally designed to avoid invasive data collection. Fare remains local-first by default. The subscription information you enter is stored on your device unless you choose to export it, import it, share it, contact support with it, or use optional account or Cloud Backup features that require online storage.

Fare does not:

  • connect to bank accounts
  • scan credit card or bank statements
  • scan email receipts
  • read transaction history
  • require financial credentials
  • automatically detect subscriptions from third-party financial data
  • sell your personal subscription list
  • use your subscription list to make lending, credit, insurance, employment, or eligibility decisions

3. Information You Provide

Depending on how you use Fare, you may provide certain information directly.

When you manually add a subscription, you may enter information such as subscription or service name, plan name, price, billing cycle, renewal date, trial end date, payment note, cancellation-related notes, and status, such as active, trial, paused, or canceled.

This information is entered by you. Fare does not independently verify whether the information is accurate. By default, this subscription information is stored locally on your device unless you choose to use export, sharing, support, account, or Cloud Backup features.

Fare may store app preferences such as appearance mode, selected currency display, theme preference, app icon preference, notification settings, haptics preference, widget layout, favorites, whether you completed onboarding, and app-use timestamps such as first-opened date.

If you choose to export your Fare data, Fare may create a JSON backup file containing your saved subscriptions and app preferences. You control where that file is shared or stored. Anyone with access to your exported backup may be able to view the information inside it.

If you choose to sign in with Apple, Fare may receive an account identifier and email address if Apple provides one. Fare uses this account state to connect account-based features such as Cloud Backup. Fare does not store Apple identity tokens or authorization codes in local app storage.

If you use Fare+ Cloud Backup, Fare may upload saved subscriptions, favorites, timeline events, widget layout, settings, notification preferences, app theme, app icon, haptics preference, currency preference, and first-opened date to our cloud infrastructure so you can back up or restore your Fare data.

If you use paid features, Fare may store limited purchase state such as whether Fare+ or Lifetime Ad-Free is active. Payment processing is handled by App Store and RevenueCat systems, not by Fare directly.

If you use Subscription Requests, Fare may open a prefilled email to support. The message content is controlled by you before sending and may include the brand, website, category, notes, or other details you choose to provide.

If you contact us by email, through a support form, or by another communication channel, we may collect your name, email address, message content, screenshots or files you choose to send, and support history.

4. Information Collected Automatically

Fare is designed to minimize automatic collection. However, depending on the website, app configuration, hosting provider, analytics tools, crash reporting tools, app store systems, advertising systems, payment systems, or cloud services we use, some information may be collected automatically.

This may include device type, operating system, app version, browser type, approximate location derived from IP address, pages viewed on the website, referring website, dates and times of visits, diagnostic information, crash reports, performance logs, ad delivery information, purchase status, and account or session status.

We use this type of information to operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.

If Fare uses analytics, diagnostics, ads, or infrastructure tools, we aim to configure them in a privacy-conscious way and avoid sending the contents of your manually entered subscription list unless a feature clearly requires it and you consent or choose to use that feature.

5. Website Cookies and Similar Technologies

Fare's website may use cookies, local storage, pixels, or similar technologies.

These technologies may be used to keep the website functional, remember preferences, understand website traffic, measure marketing performance, prevent abuse or fraud, and improve website reliability.

You can usually control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some website functionality.

If we use third-party analytics or advertising tools on the website, those providers may set their own cookies or collect information according to their own privacy policies.

6. Information From Third Parties

Fare may receive limited information from third parties when you interact with external services.

If you download Fare from an app store, the app store may provide us with aggregated or limited information such as install statistics, crash information, subscription status, purchase status, or country-level analytics.

Fare includes Sign in with Apple for optional account identity. If you choose to use account features, we may receive information such as account identifier, email address if provided, authentication token, and account status through Apple and our authentication provider.

Fare uses Supabase for account authentication and optional cloud backup infrastructure. If you sign in or use Cloud Backup, Supabase may process account, session, and cloud backup data needed to provide those features.

Fare offers paid features such as Fare+ and Lifetime Ad-Free. Payments are processed by Apple and RevenueCat. Fare does not receive your full payment card number from those providers.

Fare may show ads to free users and may offer rewarded ads for features such as temporary Theme Drop unlocks. AdMob or related advertising providers may process device, ad request, ad delivery, reward, and diagnostic information. Fare does not use your manually entered subscription list to target ads.

Fare may use external resources such as Brandfetch or similar providers to display subscription service logos based on a service domain. These requests may involve normal network information such as IP address and user-agent being processed by the logo provider. Fare should not send your private payment notes or user-entered subscription details to a logo provider.

7. How We Use Information

We may use information to provide and operate Fare, save and display your subscriptions, calculate subscription summaries, show renewal dates and trial dates, generate local charts, widgets, and calendar views, remember app settings, schedule local reminders, provide export, import, Cloud Backup, and restore features, respond to support and subscription requests, troubleshoot bugs, maintain security, prevent misuse, improve the app and website, display ads to free users, provide rewarded ad features, provide paid features if enabled, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your manually entered subscription list to make credit, lending, employment, insurance, or financial eligibility decisions.

8. Local-First Storage

Fare's product direction is local-first.

This means that subscription records you manually enter are intended to stay on your device unless you export a backup, import or share a backup, contact support and send us information, sign in and use optional Cloud Backup, use another feature that clearly requires online processing, or the operating system, app store, backup service, or device-level sync separately stores your app data according to your device settings.

Local-first storage gives you control, but it also means you are responsible for backing up your own data unless you choose to use an optional backup feature.

If you delete the app, reset local data, lose your device, or clear app storage, your Fare data may be lost unless you exported or backed it up.

9. How We Share Information

Fare does not sell your manually entered subscription list.

We may share information with service providers for hosting, analytics, diagnostics, email, customer support, payment processing, app distribution, ads, rewarded ad delivery, authentication, Cloud Backup, backups, or infrastructure.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, legal process, or government request.

We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of users, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce our terms, protect Fare's systems, or prevent harm.

If Fare is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or another notice provided to you.

We may share information when you choose to do so, such as exporting a backup, sending information to support, sending a subscription request, signing in, using Cloud Backup, or using another optional online feature.

10. Selling or Sharing Personal Information

Fare does not sell your manually entered subscription data.

Fare also does not knowingly share your manually entered subscription list for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Fare may show ads to free users, including rewarded ads for optional features such as Theme Drop. We aim to keep ads separate from your manually entered subscription list.

If Fare later uses advertising or marketing technologies that constitute sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under applicable privacy laws, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any required choices.

11. Data Retention

For local app data, retention is primarily controlled by you and your device.

Your subscription records may remain on your device until you edit them, delete them, reset local app data, uninstall the app, clear device storage, or restore from a backup that replaces them.

Cloud Backup records may be retained while your account or backup feature remains active, until they are overwritten, deleted, or no longer needed to provide the feature, subject to technical and legal limits.

Support communications and subscription requests may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, maintain records, improve support, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

Website logs, analytics, and diagnostic records may be retained for a limited period depending on the tools and providers used.

12. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. However, no app, website, network, device, or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

You can help protect your data by securing your device, using a strong device passcode, keeping your operating system updated, storing exported backup files carefully, avoiding sharing screenshots or backups that contain sensitive information, and deleting data you no longer need.

Fare does not ask for your bank password, card login, email login, or financial account credentials. Do not send those credentials to us.

13. Your Choices and Controls

Depending on your location and how you use Fare, you may have choices such as editing subscription records in the app, deleting subscriptions, resetting local app data, exporting a backup, importing a backup, using or disabling Cloud Backup if available to you, signing in or signing out of Apple account features, changing currency display, changing appearance settings, changing app icon and theme settings, turning haptics on or off, turning notifications on or off, managing app store purchases, and contacting us to request access, correction, or deletion of information we may hold about you outside the local app.

If your data is stored only locally on your device, we may not be able to access, retrieve, correct, or delete it for you.

14. Notifications

Fare includes notification settings and reminder features.

If notifications are enabled, Fare may use local notifications to remind you about renewal dates, trial dates, yearly renewals, or other app-related events based on the dates you enter.

Free notification settings may use a default local reminder schedule. Fare+ may unlock additional reminder timing options.

You can control notifications through Fare's in-app settings and your device operating system settings.

Fare should not send marketing push notifications unless you have consented where required.

15. Children's Privacy

Fare is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

If Fare later offers features directed to children or knowingly collects personal information from children under 13, we will update our practices and privacy notices as required.

16. California Privacy Notice

This section applies to California residents to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, applies to Fare.

California residents may have rights to know what personal information is collected, know the categories of sources of personal information, know the purposes for collection, use, disclosure, sale, or sharing, request deletion, request correction, request access, opt out of sale or sharing, limit use of sensitive personal information in certain circumstances, and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.

Fare does not sell your manually entered subscription list. Fare does not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.

Categories of personal information we may collect, depending on your use of the Service, include identifiers, device and internet activity information, commercial information, user-provided subscription information, preferences, account information, purchase status, cloud backup information, ad-related information, and support communications.

Sources of information may include you, your device, app stores, service providers, analytics or diagnostics providers, authentication providers, cloud infrastructure providers, advertising providers, and payment providers if paid features are enabled.

Purposes may include providing the app, customer support, security, diagnostics, analytics, authentication, Cloud Backup, ad delivery, payment fulfillment, legal compliance, and improving the Service.

To exercise California privacy rights, contact us at support@usefare.app. We may need to verify your request before responding.

17. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have privacy rights similar to access, deletion, correction, portability, and opt-out rights. If you live in a state with applicable privacy rights, you may contact us at support@usefare.app.

We will respond as required by applicable law.

18. International Users

Fare may be operated from the United States or other locations where we or our service providers operate.

If you access Fare from outside the United States, your information may be processed in a country that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction.

Where applicable, you may have rights under local privacy laws. To make a privacy request, contact us at support@usefare.app.

19. GDPR, EEA, and UK Privacy Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar data protection laws, you may have additional rights regarding your personal data.

For purposes of applicable data protection laws, Fare is the controller of personal data that we process through the website, support communications, account features, analytics, diagnostics, purchases, and other online services we operate.

Some information you enter into the Fare app may be stored only on your device. If information is stored only locally on your device and is not transmitted to Fare, we may not be able to access, correct, export, or delete that information for you. You can manage that local information directly in the app by editing subscriptions, deleting subscriptions, resetting local data, or exporting/importing backup files.

Legal Bases for Processing

Where GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, we process personal data only when we have a legal basis to do so.

Depending on how you use Fare, our legal bases may include:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the Service, operate app features you request, process purchases, provide account features, respond to support requests, and maintain your access to Fare.
  • Consent: where you choose to enable optional features, receive certain communications, use cookies or analytics where consent is required, or provide information voluntarily.
  • Legitimate interests: to maintain, secure, debug, understand, and improve Fare; prevent fraud or misuse; respond to user requests; and operate a reliable website and app, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
  • Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws, tax obligations, app store requirements, consumer protection rules, legal requests, and regulatory obligations.
  • Protection of rights and safety: where processing is necessary to protect users, Fare, or others from harm, fraud, security threats, or unlawful activity.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law and certain limitations, you may have the right to:

  • request access to personal data we hold about you
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data
  • request deletion of personal data
  • request restriction of processing
  • object to certain processing
  • request portability of personal data
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • object to direct marketing
  • complain to a data protection authority

You can exercise these rights by contacting us at support@usefare.app.

We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.

Local App Data

Fare is designed to be local-first. Many subscription records and app preferences may be stored only on your device unless you choose to export them, send them to support, or use optional Cloud Backup.

If data is stored only on your device, Fare may not have a copy of it and may not be able to fulfill access, deletion, correction, or portability requests for that local data from our systems. If you use Cloud Backup, some backup data may be available through our cloud systems subject to the feature's controls and technical limits.

You can control local app data directly by:

  • editing subscription records
  • deleting subscription records
  • resetting local app data
  • exporting a backup
  • importing a backup
  • using or disabling Cloud Backup if available to you
  • deleting the app from your device

If you export a backup file, you are responsible for protecting that file.

International Transfers

Fare may be operated from the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.

If personal data is transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to a country that has not been recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection, we will rely on appropriate safeguards where required by law, such as standard contractual clauses, service provider commitments, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Retention periods may depend on:

  • whether you have an account
  • whether you contacted support
  • whether you made a purchase
  • legal, tax, accounting, or compliance requirements
  • fraud prevention and security needs
  • whether the information is stored only on your device

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, reset local data, uninstall the app, or replace it through an imported backup.

Complaints

If you are located in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your personal data properly, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We encourage you to contact us first at support@usefare.app so we can try to resolve your concern directly.

20. Third-Party Links and Services

Fare may link to third-party websites or services, such as subscription provider websites, support pages, cancellation pages, app stores, payment providers, or logo providers.

We do not control the privacy practices of third parties. Their privacy policies govern how they collect, use, and share information.

You should review third-party privacy policies before providing information to them.

21. Cancellation Guidance

Fare may provide cancellation guidance for supported subscriptions.

Cancellation guidance may include direct cancellation links where available, account management links, support links, general steps, and best-effort guidance.

Fare tries to label cancellation guidance honestly. A homepage or account page is not necessarily a direct cancellation link.

Cancellation processes can change. You should verify cancellation details with the service provider before relying on them.

22. Financial Disclaimer

Fare helps you organize information you enter manually. Fare is not a financial advisor, bank, accountant, credit counselor, subscription cancellation agent, or legal advisor.

Fare does not guarantee that your subscription data is complete, that pricing is current, that renewal dates are accurate unless entered correctly by you, that a service will accept a cancellation request, that all charges will be predicted, or that all subscription providers are supported.

You remain responsible for reviewing your actual accounts, statements, and provider communications.

23. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If we make material changes, we may notify you by updating the date above, posting a notice on the website, showing an in-app notice, or using another legally appropriate method.

Your continued use of Fare after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.

24. Contact Us

If you have questions, requests, or concerns about this Privacy Policy or Fare's privacy practices, contact us at support@usefare.app.
